If you are working on Windows and are looking for a secure and easy access to a remote computer then I would strongly suggest giving WinSCP a try.

WinSCP is an open source free SFTP client and FTP client for Windows. It has a ton of useful features, but its main function is safe copying of files between a local and a remote location.

What I really like about WINSCP is that I can use either the Windows Explorer like user interface or I can switch and use command line when I need it. It also has a text editor that allows me to edit files in either location.

WINSCP is really a great piece of software. I have never had a problem with it.
